Act 4 Scene 4-5

Act 4 Scene 4-5: SHE'S DEAD!

A:
On the wedding day the Capulets are busy decorating and working for the wedding. The nurse went to get Juliet and finds her dead! Many came to her room and Lord Capulet check her pulse and found she is cold. Friar tells the family what need to be done now. A servant Peter tells the musicians to play some sad songs and even threatened them.

C:
1.Why does the servant have a dagger
2.How is Peter educated because most people at that time is not educated
3.Why did Lord Capulet not call a doctor
4.Why did they not try to find a cause for her death
5.Why did the musicians refuse to play the song

  1. Lord Capulet probably didn't call a doctor because when the nurse found Juliet she was cold and stiff. Juliet was also not breathing and didn't have a pulse. At the time I don't think that they could have done an autopsy because it didn't exist. They where also not never advanced in medicine so didn't really know what they where doing. Juliet is very pretty so cutting her open would not be optimal to preserve the body especially if the funeral is the day after.

  2. To answer your question about the doctor, I think that their was no doubt about her being dead, so their was no point. Also they did not really have doctors that could do anything then

  3. I'm pretty sure that they already thought she was dead since she had no pulse and she wasn't breathing. They probably found out that she tried to kill herself because she did not want to marry Paris. If she drank the potion to make her die, she might have left the bottle around her because there is no possible way that she could have hidden it because she's dying. And that meant that they had to find it right beside her and that's how they know the cause of her death.

  4. To answer your question about the musicians, they didn't play the song , because they would not be paid.
