Act 4 Scenes 1-3

The Last Straw

Prompt A:
In this section of reading, Juliet goes to the friar to learn the plan for what to do about Romeo, yet when she arrives at the friar's cell, she finds Paris, and must deal with him before learning what her role in the friar's part of the plan is. She is given a vial with a drug that will render her to appear dead, yet she will wake up within 42 hours of having taken the potion. She is told to take the potion that night and will appear dead, where she will have a funeral, and eventually be taken away by Romeo to Mantua, where she can foget the whole Capulet-Montague feud. When she returns home, she finds that she is to be married Wednesday, messing up her whole plan. In her agony and confusion, she decides to take the vial, hoping that the plan will follow through for her.
Prompt C:
 - Why does noone know what Juliet will personally feel while she is under the effects of the drug?
 - How will moving the wedding sooner affect the plan?
 - Who will deliver the message about the friar's plan to Romeo?
 - What if Romeo doesn't arrive? What will happen when people find out Juliet is still alive and she faked her death?
 - How would the family war escalate if the town found that another Capulet died of grief over her fallen cousin?
