Prompt F: Juliet seems to have trust issues about Friar, because she thought the potion she was gonna drink would turn out bad. After she continued to think about it, she knew that Friar was a good man and she could trust him. Even though the Friar could have gotten in trouble by all of this, he still supported Juliet and wanted to make things right. Through it all, he had faith in Juliet. He is a better father figure to Juliet than Lord Capulet will ever be.
Prompt C:
Friar: Why did you want to help out Juliet?
Lord Capulet: What was the point of this wedding?
Why doesn't anyone listen to what Juliet wants?
How come Juliet doesn't just run away at first instead of pretending to die?
Nurse: why did you change your mind about Paris?
I think the friar felt an obligation to help Juliet because he's know her for a while and he is her confidant as well as Romeo. He also thought that by uniting them by marriage they would tell their parents and this would help end the feud. He probably would have preferred to not help Juliet but didn't feel like he had much of a choice.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your "Why doesn't anyone listen to what Juliet wants?", I think that she was not considered important at the time. She is only 13 in a world where women are not really listened to. The family believed they knew what was best for her. They wanted her to marry a wealthy man , to keep her in a rich and powerful household. This is probably the best thing for her to do.
