Prompt B: The balcony scene at the beginning of Act 2 really reminds me of a movie I saw, "Letters to Juliet" At the end of the movie, the boy and the girl reenacted Romeo and Juliet's balcony scene in a spin off way./ Also, the balcony scene reminded me of Taylor Swifts' song and music video "Love Story". It's actually inspired by Romeo and Juliet, but I used to really like that song as a kid. The music video showed Taylor Swift on a balcony basically reenacting the one from Romeo and Juliet. In the song, Taylor Swift uses lines inspired by the book.
Here are some lyrics to the song:
"...I'm standing there
on a balcony in summer air
on a balcony in summer air
See the lights,
See the party the ball gowns
I see you make your way through the crowd
and say hello
little did I know
See the party the ball gowns
I see you make your way through the crowd
and say hello
little did I know
That you were romeo you were throwing pebbles
and my daddy said stay away from juliet
and I was crying on the staircase
begging you please dont go, and I said
and my daddy said stay away from juliet
and I was crying on the staircase
begging you please dont go, and I said
Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone...
cause you were romeo i was a scarlet letter
and my daddy said stay away from juliet"

Prompt E:
The first picture is the a picture of Romeo and Juliet's balcony scene. The next one is Taylor Swift's music video, of her waiting for her "Romeo" to come rescue her. And in the third picture is the scene from "Letters to Juliet" where the man climbs up the balcony side. So many films and videos and ideas today are affected by Shakespeares' ideas and reenact his scenes from Romeo and Juliet, especially the balcony scene.
Great job on your pictures! How you tied Taylor Swifts song in is really good because it describes the scene of the balcony.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you included examples from different movies, songs, and plays that all have the influence of the original Romeo&Juliet. I think that a lot of kids movies, and other songs have this influence too, but it is not as noticeable.
