Act I Scene IV-V

Prompt A: Who said hate could keep them apart?
        Romeo, Benvolio, and Mercutio arrive at the Capulet's house,concealed by masks.  Romeo refuses to dance with his friends, because of "loves heavy burden."  Romeo reveals that he has an ominous dream, but would not be any more specific.  Trying to lighten the mood, Mercutio says that Romeo must have been visited in sleep by Queen Mab, the "faeries midwife."   Lord Capulet comes out and greets his guests, asking them too dance, while he watches, and says his dancing days are over.  Romeo sets of to find Rosaline, but instead sees Juliet, and is awestruck by her grace and beauty.  Tybalt recognizes Romeo's voice, but Capulet lets Romeo go, not wanting to ruin the festivities.  Romeo greets Juliet, but learns that she is the daughter of the enemy, Capulet, and is deeply disturbed.  Juliet later probes around to find out more about the stranger, and finds out he is a Montague, and she grieves after hearing the news.

        Why is Tybalt so quick to want to hurt the Montagues?
        What is the festivites for?
        Why does Capulet let Romeo go?
        What is Romeos ominous dream?
        Why doesn't he expand on the topic of his dream?

  1. I think that Lord Capulet lets Romeo go because Romeo is causing no trouble at the party, and is minding his own business.
