Act 1 scenes 1,2,3

Act 1 Scenes 1,2,3

Prompt A:

A fight breaks out between the Montague and the Capulets in the middle of the streets of Verona. The small fight breaks up into a massive fight in the farmers market of Verona. The ruler of Verona comes in to tell them all to stop and that this shall never happen again. Romeo goes back to his home and his cousin shows up. They start to talk about his love for Rosaline but how she does not love him back. There is a huge masquerade ball at the Capulets and Romeo is going to sneak in with his cousin Bevolio.

Prompt C:

Why is there so much difference between the Capulets and Montegues?
Why is Romeo in love with Rosaline and not Juliet?
Why does Rosaline not love Romeo back?
Do they meet at this ball and fall in love?
Does Romeo get caught at the ball?

  1. Romeo does not get caught at the ball. Juliet wishes him to leave so he does not get caught, but he refuses to leave. Romeo stays to the end of the ball without getting caught.

  2. Good questions- I am also wondering why Rosaline never loved Romeo back the way he does.
Also an answer to your first question: The Montague and Capulets have always been rivals. There has always been a constant feud between the two families and they will always be fighting.
