Act 1 Scene 1-3
A: The two family Sampson and Gregory is having a quarrel against each other they both drew their swords. Then the prince comes and stops them. He also tells them if they ever fight or disturb the streets again they will be killed.Juliet's father and Paris, the king's kinsman, talks about him marrying Juliet. Capulet gives a list to a "servingman" or a servant, but because the servant can't read he asks Romeo. Romeo later decides he wants to go to the party too. Lady Capulet tells Juliet about the marriage.
C: Capulet- when did this fight start? and why?
Prince Escalus- why are you so deadly if you want peace?
Romeo- why are you so "glued" to Rosaline?
Capulet- didn't you know that YOUR servant can't read?
Capulet- why are you marrying you daughter when she's not even forteen!
Shakespeare- why can't you write in modern English!

I liked "why can't you write in modern English!". However he was writing in modern English. It was modern at the time.
ReplyDeleteI think the Prince threatened them with death because that was the only way he could stop them from brawling.
